250cc race results: AMA Nationals RD4 – Lawrence wins at High Point

Race One: It’s very tricky conditions at High Point as a heavily ripped track and rain has meant a very deep race track. It was RJ Hampshire who had the early lead but Jo Shimoda crashed around the second corner bring down Hunter Lawrence and half the field with him. Hampshire then crashed out of the lead. It allowed the very impressive Haiden Deegan to get to the front but Hampshire wasn’t going away. They were neck and neck on the final lap and Hampshire made the decisive move to get the first moto win.  Lawrence rode great to get back to third to keep his hopes alive of an overall win.

Race Two: After some track work the track conditions were much better in race two. It was young rookie, Chance Hymas who grabbed the holeshot and held the early lead. There was a start crash which involved Hampshire and Deegan who went 1-2 in moto one so they had a lot of work to do. Lawrence came from around fifth and made a few nice passes to close up on Hymas to take the lead and a comfortable win to take the overall. Vialle was fourth on the first lap and after getting passed by Lawrence started to find his rhythm and passed Kitchen and Hymas to finish an impressive second.

Deegan rode well to come through to sixth for third overall on his Star Yamaha with Hampshire seventh in the moto for second overall.

UPDATE: Lawrence got docked seven points after the race for jumping on Red Cross Flag (he gets to keep his overall win though).
