Lucas Coenen was on fire all day at Arnhem as he charge from a first turn crash in race one to second and went from 17th in race two right onto the back wheel of Jeffrey Herlings but Herlings upped his pace and held onto the win – but even Herlings said Coenen was faster!
Watch the amazing speed below and the battle between two of the biggest talents in the sports history at the opposite end of their careers doing battle:
Herlings said: “I am lucky it wasn’t two laps more, I was at the end (no more energy). Lucas had unbelievable speed, I think he was just faster than me today. 1-1-1, really pleased. I remember when I was 18, I could do two 35 minute motos no problem, now he is that age and I am on the way down!“
Coenen said: “The starts were really bad. It was really tough for me, second moto I gave everything I had, they say he’s the best sand rider, I wanted to beat him in the sand….we need to figure out the starts.”
