Video: Daytona press day – Hunter Lawrence talks MXGP, Tomac on the scoop tyre!

It is one of the most iconic races of the year at the famous Daytona Speedway venue in Florida that saw the bikes on track today before predicted rain tonight which could mix things up even more!

Lewis Phillips spoke to Eli Tomac about trying the scoop tyre at Daytona, Webb on his improved starts, Roczen on being breathless in Seattle and Hunter Lawrence talked about the MXGP opener in Argentina next weekend!

Hunter Lawrence said on MXGP: “It’s so tough, man. Anything can happen. You know, anything can happen. Herlings on a new bike. Gajser on a new bike. The pre-season races, Gajser looked good, he won, but sometimes pre-season races aren’t everything. But I think the top guys in the 450 class pre-season races are a pretty good indicator because they’re pretty much solid everywhere they go, right? So it’s not too much of a surprise at who is doing well.

“I think Gajser is going to be good. Febvre will be good, Herlings will be good. Coenen will be good. So many other good guys that I’m forgetting, you know, Renaux, like Vlaanderen Seewer, Guadagnini, who else? What have we got in Suzuki? There’s no Suzuki in MXGP sure there isn’t?  Who’s the Husky guys?  Kay de Wolf, he’s moved up. Adamo, Vialle my other and my Honda teammate, Fernandez.

“They have such a long winter that I think any given guy has enough time to really turn their whole year around, if that makes sense. Where Supercross to Outdoors here, it’s two weeks. You know, one weekend off. So it’s like, the guys trending good in Supercross generally trend the same in Outdoors. There’s not always a big surprise, but I think the GPs, you know, like someone like Alberto Forato,  Ben Watson, could have had a great pre-season. The bike’s working good, didn’t change nothing and he just moto’s the whole off-season. You never know stuff like that, and then he could be a top five guy. Like, that’s the cool thing. But who knows? I think it’ll be the same top guys.”
