On the eve of the 2025 Australian MXGP look back at the last GP in Australia that took place way back in 2001 with an 18 year of Chad Reed on the factory Kawasaki beginning to make waves at the elite level!
But Reed was up against a prime Pichon in the 250 class as Stefan Everts resurrected his career after two injury ruined seasons to take charge of the 500 division Jamie Dobb ruled the 125 class on his way to becoming Britain’s last world champ.
Watch the 250 and 500 class motos below in a controversial year that saw all three classes race on the same day but only had one moto each as Dorna, the promoters of MotoGP briefly took over MXGP for a couple of years!
Ironically MotoGP now have a qualifying race on Saturday copying MXGP!
