After recently getting back on the bike, there had been growing hope that Tim Gajser might make a surprise return to racing at Loket next weekend for round fourteen of the MXGP World Championship.

However, the five-time world champion has now provided an update — and fans will have to wait a little longer to see him back behind the gate.

The Slovenian took to Instagram to share the latest on his recovery and confirm that he won’t be lining up in the Czech Republic.

“Hey guys, just to give you some quick updates. Everything is going really well with the trainings, with riding on the bike. So yeah, I got a lot of questions if I’m going to race in Loket.

I mean, I still didn’t get green light from the doctor to go racing, so I will not be there, but hopefully soon I can get a green light and be back behind the gate. About the other rumours, don’t ask me because I’m not able to say anything.”

While Gajser continues to make good progress, it’s clear that medical clearance remains the key hurdle. The next round after Loket is Lommel — a notoriously rough and physically demanding sand track, which might not be the ideal venue for a comeback either. Whether the Honda HRC star returns in Belgium or later remains to be seen.

All eyes will be on when Gajser gets the all-clear, as MXGP fans eagerly await his return to the gate.
