Tomac on his battle with Prado at Southwick

Eli Tomac spent 20 minutes searching for a way by Jorge Prado but wasn’t able to find a place to do it until the Spaniard went down pretty hard with about ten minutes to go while running third.

Speaking the press conference Tomac wasn’t massively impressed with the amount of roost he had to eat behind the Kawasaki! “Jorge was running a good pace, and honestly I was just eating his roost. I swear he was roosting me over the backside of the singles like better than anyone, like on purpose (laughs) .

“It was just destroying my goggles, and it was getting pretty frustrating in the first moto. I actually just kind of backed off because I was trying to figure out where I could maybe pass him, but yeah, he was just launching the roost today, that’s for sure.”

An honest Tomac admitted he just didn’t have the pace to run with Jett or Hunter Lawrence at Southwick, saying: “Well, they were just good today, so it was tough out there. Like I said, they rode really well on this track, and of course I love this place too.I try to have as much fun as I could, but of course Southwick’s Southwick, so it’s a gnarly track to race on. And yeah, just didn’t quite have that pace, and that’s all I can really say. So, got beat, try to get better next time.

Meanwhile, Jorge Prado, wasn’t happy with his day despite improvment and at least showing a America a little glimpse into his real level, telling Steve Matthes on Racer X: (full interview here): “We are far off. I mean, I’m a sand rider and I finished P5 today. It’s a track where I should be winning, and I know I would win with different stuff. So yeah, we just need to keep working. Yeah, they we did some testing the first week after High Point. I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. Hopefully we improve somehow….And for me, it’s a pity because I think that I could be winning, but right now I don’t have the tools to do it.”
