Should the MXoN have prize money? Hunter Lawrence thinks so!

Hunter Lawrence didn’t hold back in his interview with Lewis Phillips, speaking about the SMX series not being as prestigious as outdoors or supercross and why the MXoN should have prize money to help the teams.

Hunter said: “(It would) be great if we, you know, got a good prize for nations. You know, that’s one where everyone is paying to enter and not really getting anything out of it except the Chamberlain Trophy or street cred, I guess you could say!  It would be cool to see that organization give a little more love, you know, a little more help back to the teams. I understand it’s a double sided argument, without the races being held and those organizations, there’s nothing for the teams to race. And without the teams, there’s no-one to race and continually support the series. So that’s an interesting topic.”

On the prestige of SMX as Hunter once again battles his brother for the $1 million dollar title, just like last year, he says it is more a money race than a prestigious title:

You win a Supercross title or a motocross title. There’s a lot of weight in that. And you’re able to, you know, hit kickers in your salary in your contracts and stuff like that within your partners. There’s a little more weight to it. Whereas this one (SMX), it’s more just the money. The money you can win from from the organization at these three rounds.
