Chase Sexton is coming into 2026 refreshed and motivated after a tough 2025 that saw him narrowly lose the supercross title and get generally a bit burnt out. Now, rejuvenated back on an aluminium frame with Kawasaki, both he and the team are ready to establish themselves as, “the guys to beat.”
Sexton reflected on 2025 saying: “Confidence is good. I think last year, later half of the season was kind of tough for me, so trying to rebuild myself and get myself back to winning and winning races and fighting for a championship. I didn’t win a championship last year, but that was tough, so I think Kawi and myself are both really determined to kind of get back and establish ourselves as the guys to beat, and I think that’s a cool spot to be in and try and get back there.
“Right now I just have my head down, and it’s pretty boring time of the year, just kind of training and stuff, so we’ll see when we come to Anaheim, but I feel better than I did last year in the off-season, just as myself and my energy and whatnot, so we’re off to a good start.
“I think last year I was, not that I was tired or, I mean I was tired, but I think mentally I just got really just tired from whether it be like worrying about the bike or whatever it is, the grind of the last two years kind of got to me last year, especially later in the outdoors and then even in SMX.
“I kind of took a step back in the off-season trying to work on just finding the fun again, and I think we’re off to a good start with the team and stuff like that, and kind of getting the fire back in me. So, right now, like I said, I’m in the best spot I’ve been in in a while, so I think that’s something to look forward to, even disregarding the new bike and whatever, getting myself right and getting the fire back in me is the most important thing.”
