The 2024 season promised to be a strong season for French MX2 GP rookie, Marc-Antoine Rossi after a strong end to the 2023 EMX250 campaign. The very exciting French talent signed a factory deal with De Carli GasGas.
The start of the season, Rossi was on fire but was then sadly hit with a season ending knee injury which was a real shame as he was a very exciting addition to the MX2 GP class. With the De Carli GasGas team making the switch back to KTM, Rossi was always likely to race a KTM for next year, but we understand he’ll be changing teams for the upcoming season.
We believe that Rossi will make the switch to the factory KTM team that will now be managed by Joel Smets after it was announced he is taking over the role from Harry Norton. The move will see Rossi under the same awning as Jeffrey Herlings and Andrea Adamo – not bad company to share an awning with – a combined six world titles!
Sacha Coenen who was under the awning last year has already been confirmed as a De Carli KTM rider next year where he’ll link up with his Brother, Lucas as well as Simon Längenfelder.
The move for Rossi does mean that he will spend more time in the Belgium/Netherlands area and less time in Italy where he’d have been based more with the De Carli GasGas team.
Joel Smets who is now team manager will also be heavily involved and help guide Rossi – that could prove to be a deadly combination as Smets is superb at guiding young talent.
He may have missed a lot of racing this year but with a full off-season ready to prepare for the 2025 season Rossi could come out swinging next year – he is certainly a talent worth keeping an eye on for the future.
