After the disappointment of no Jeffrey Herlings racing at the MXoN in Ironman for the Netherlands, his old teenage rival, Ken Roczen has confirmed he is in for this year’s event.
Roczen told Lewis Phillips: “I was very on the fence of it because if I’m barely like, you know, I’m going to go to Charlotte, do all of that. I want to race MXoN when I’m ready. And last year I came back from my knee, this year, again, something. But I did say that, hey, I should probably do it. I feel the responsibility, like I should be there. So I am going. Actually at the moment, I’m not sure who my teammates are, actually. I was focusing so hard on riding and practicing and getting all my ducks in a row that I haven’t really messed around with it too much. But I did give them my OK“.
Simon Längenfelder has already been confirmed for the German team so we just need to wait for the third rider to be announced. They have different options in the form of Tom Koch, Max Nagl and Max Spies.
But Roczen says he is not prepared for this weekend at Unadilla but wants to race anyway! “I’m practicing at home, you know, I might as well just go and rub some elbows and go racing. Even if I get smoked, because I really truly believe that this is probably the least ready I’ve been going into a motocross race. But it’s kind of exciting too, because I have no idea where I’m at. I have been working my ass off when it comes to when I do motos.”
