Revealed: FIM Europe introduces the EMX Open European Championship

FIM Europe is proud to officially present the EMX Open European Championship, a brand-new competition set to debut in the 2026 racing season. This new category has been conceived to further strengthen and expand the European motocross platform, offering fresh and meaningful competitive opportunities to both emerging talents and established riders across the continent.

At the heart of the series, there is an innovative and dynamic format, specifically designed to enhance sporting value and ensure broad geographic representation. The championship pathway is structured around zone-based qualifying pre-rounds, providing riders with a clear, merit-based route to the Final.

Each zone included in the FIM Europe EMX calendar will host a dedicated EMX Open pre-round, raced alongside the EMX65 and EMX85 European Championship events, thereby integrating the new category seamlessly into the existing European motocross framework.

23rd–24th May:

• Central Europe Zone – Denmark

• South West Zone – Portugal

• North Europe Zone – Poland

20th–21st June:

• South East Zone – Bulgaria

In line with the championship regulations, riders may only register within their own designated zone, ensuring balanced participation and fair competition.

The top ten classified riders from each zone will automatically qualify for the EMX Open Final, which will take place in occasion of the MXGP of Belgium in Lommel.

With 40 riders advancing through qualification, an additional 10 wildcards will be available, bringing the total entry list to a maximum of 50 riders for the Final race.

Registrations for the EMX Open pre-rounds must be completed via the FIM Europe Dashboard or through the link provided in the Supplementary Regulations.

With its structured qualification system and prestigious Final, the EMX Open European Championship represents a significant step forward in the evolution of European motocross, reinforcing FIM Europe’s commitment to innovation, sporting excellence, and rider development at all levels.
