Race One: It was Jeremy Seewer who took the holeshot on the Ducati but it was Lucas Coenen who quickly got into the lead. The Factory KTM rider then ran away with things at the front – total domination! He even had time for a tip over towards the end but picked it up to take the win.
Behind him the Fantic’s were battling all race long after passing Kevin Horgmo to get into second and third. Glenn Coldenhoff held off his younger team mate, Andrea Bonacorsi to bring home an impressive second.
Tim Gajser and Romain Febvre both got bad starts – the Slovenian was able to pass the Kawasaki man. However, Febvre was able to make a move to get him back again and finished fourth with Gajser surprisingly only coming home in fifth.
Ben Watson rode a brilliant race to come up to eighth on his Beta with fellow Brit, Adam Sterry also strong in thirteenth.
Race Two: The second moto produced some amazing race. Lucas Coenen went down on the first corner as Jeremy Seewer got another great start on the Ducati. But Jeffrey Herlings, yes – Herlings – where had he been all weekend?! He got a good start and got into the lead and stayed there for the first part of the race before he started to go back.
Isak Gifting then briefly led as he continues to battle against the factory machines. It was Febvre and Gajser who then started to really push and they got themselves into first and second. Gajser tried right until the end but the French man held on to take the win and the overall with it – he needed to win otherwise Coldenhoff would have got the overall. The Fantic man can still be happy with second overall.
Meanwhile, Lucas Coenen had got himself into the top ten but then came together with Seewer in mid air. A lap later he then had a crash which saw him DNF the race – hopefully he is okay. Renaux also didn’t start the second moto so we’ll await an update on his condition.
