Race one: In a battle of generational talents, rookie Lucas Coenen held Jeffrey Herlings off for a full 30 minutes plus two laps to take a great win against one of the legends of the game as Herlings showed he is getting closer and closer to his A game. Calvin Vlaanderen stayed with the front two for a long time as he took third and had to fight hard for most of the moto to hold off Romain Febvre as the front four disappeared from the rest the of the field.

Race Two: Jeffrey Herlings showed the old dog can still teach the new pup some tricks as he came from third, eight seconds, back to pass Romain Febvre and then push his way past race-long leader Lucas Coenen with two laps to go to win his 108th GP win after an ACL injury in 30s. The doubters were proven wrong once again as the bullet fired back at the track he broke his neck on a couple of years ago.
Herlings said: “Since last year, it’s been a while. Coming back from an ACL wasn’t easy, just Jett Lawrence, he’s a super talent! But from my side with just three days on the bike and getting back (racing immediately)…everybody said I should retire! But this old man, on a good day, can still ride pretty okay. Really happy with the win. I have come a long way, when I came back in Sardinia, I almost got lapped by Lucas and Romain, two months later I managed to win!“
