Race One: Sacha Coenen is looking great in the gnarly sand of Riola as he dominated the first moto – to take his first race win of the season. Simon Längenfelder was solid in second – he’ll go for the overall in race two. Despite a tip over, Liam Everts got back up to third ahead of Janis Reisulis.
Julius Mikula had a superb ride in the tough conditions to finish fifth. Both Triumph riders had a crash so had to fight back through the field to sixth and seventh respectively with McLellan getting the better of Farres.
Race Two: Things were looking good for Coenen as he led after the first turn and started to pull away at the front but then he crashed which allowed Längenfelder to the front – the German never looked back to take the overall win – the 12th of his career.
Farres was looking great in the deep sand sitting a comfortable second before he crashed with a lap and a half to go which allowed Coenen to finish second. It also meant Farres lost out on the podium with Everts finishing third overall.
McLellan again didn’t get the best of starts but recovered to third in what was a good ride.
