Race One: After an eventful first day in Argentina, Simon Längenfelder showed exactly why he’s the world champion. Janis Reisulis led half of the moto but it was Längenfelder who despite a gate pick came around the first corner in second.
Längenfelder saw Coenen coming and decided to pass Reisulis to then pull away at the front. Coenen also made a move on the EMX250 champion but couldn’t catch Längenfelder.
Reisulis lost third position to Farres with a couple of laps to go but still rode really well. Mathis Valin ended up rounding the top five with Camden McLellan in sixth after a crash.
Liam Everts went down on the first corner so came form last to seventh.
Race Two: Everts held the early lead but there was chaos around the first couple of corners involving Coenen. It looked like he landed on another rider and then going down – he was holding his knee so fingers crossed he’s okay.
At the front, Längenfelder and McLellan were coming through the pack together and then caught Everts. The German made a move and the South African followed him through – he never gave up but couldn’t quite get close enough to the world champion who will be delighted to start his title defence going 1-1.
Farres ended up second overall with a fourth in race two after going off the track when battling with the world champion but Triumph will be delighted with both their riders on the podium.
Karlis Reisulis rode a great race to come home in fifth in race two and held off his brother with Valin coming home in seventh.
