A dramatic MX2 race saw Thibault Benistant win at home after some late-race craziness to the top two riders! Sacha Coenen was out front having pulled a gap on Kay de Wolf with the Dutchman seemingly locked into second even if Benistant was catching but then De Wolf couldn’t get over an uphill double as his bike ground to a halt with a gearbox issue and the world champ was forced to DNF!

Coenen meanhile was out front with a nearly a ten second lead only to get cross-rutted on a downhill and go down HARD. Somehow he got up and still finished sixth but he was holding his ribs on the way back to the pits.

It all means Liam Everts who held Camden McLellan off for third is now the championship leader in MX2, something that Liam would not have imagined a month before Argentina when he didn’t know if he would even be able to race!
