Preview: EMX125 Championship – History

Earlier in the week we had a look at the EMX250 championship history looking at the previous champions so we decided to do the same for the EMX125 series.

Creating the EMX125 series was a masterstroke from Infront Moto Racing as it allows teenagers and the next generation race during the GP weekends and get spotted by GP teams at a young age.

Until now there’s only been one EMX250 champion that has gone onto win a World title. So, how many EMX125 champions have gone onto a world title? The answer is 4: Jordi Tixier, Tim Gajser, Pauls Jonass and Jorge Prado. All four of them have eleven world titles between them!

We have seen some great battles in the series throughout it’s history – this year will be the sixteenth year of the series. Starting in 2010 where Jordi Tixier won the title to become the first champion to last year where Noel Zanocz held off Gyan Doensen to become champion. We’ve been treated to some great battles but the main thing is development. It is great to see the next generation improve and go on to becoming GP winners in front of our very eyes.
