The Schmicker KTM team entered the MXGP paddock in 2023 and during their two years in the paddock have worked with the likes of Cornelius Tøndel, Adam Sterry, Dave Kooiker, Lynn Valk and more.
We reported a rumour at the end of 2024 that Håkon Østerhagen was set to sign with the team for the upcoming season and that was the plan. The team also had plans to run an MXGP World Championship rider. However, the team have sadly had to close their doors.
Team manager, Jef Janssen has been struggling with his health and has decided that he has to put his health first – as a result it is the end of the Schmicker KTM team for now.
We would like to wish Janssen all the best for the future and with his health.
Janssen sent us the following statement confirming the news:
I have been sick and had to pull the trigger on the team. It was not possible for me to do all the things possible. We achieved a lot of things with less budget and man power than other teams. We had a great season in 2024 but for 2025 we can’t do it with the health situation I’m in.
It would be too much for me and it is the reason we stop. The riders have found other places, this hurts me a lot to stop but I need to do this for my situation. I will still be involved in some projects in the future but at the moment I need to take it easy.
