Official: Quentin Prugnières signs with SR Motoblouz Honda – MXGP

Words: Press Release

We all know that Motocross is a risky sport, and injuries are an inevitable part of a rider’s career. This week, the Honda Motoblouz SR Motul team suffered an incredible setback, with injuries from both Kevin Horgmo and Alberto Forato. Quentin Marc Prugnières will make his first race with the team this weekend as the MXGP World Championship is back to action in the Czech Republic.

As a former rider Josse Sallefranque knows that injuries are part of the sport, but he couldn’t imagine that both Kevin and Alberto will be out during the season.

After his crash a few weeks ago while training on his road bicycle, Kevin Horgmo had gritted his teeth in Finland to score precious points a few days after twisting his thumb. Further exams carried out upon returning from Finland revealed serious damage to the ligament in his thumb, requiring immediate surgery.

“According to the doctors, the ligament would retract if it was not operated on very quickly, with after-effects in the future. So he had surgery on Tuesday, and in a few weeks he will undergo another surgery on his shoulder injured in his crash at the French GP,” explained Josse, who quickly had another bad new after Alberto Forato injured his knee again. “For the third time this season his knee has been injured, and this time he is forced to go for a surgery. It’s very frustrating for him and us, as he was getting back in shape since his comeback, and had achieved his best result of the season in Finland,” continued Josse.

With both riders unavailable until the end of the season, Josse and Yves Demaria looked to all possible solutions to ensure that the bikes will not stay in the workshop.

“When we knew that Quentin Prugnières was available, we took the decision to sign him for the end of the season. Quentin will therefore make his debut on a 450 this weekend, after some training on the bike this week.”

After a season and a half in the 250 class Quentin, who celebrated his twentieth birthday last May, will therefore line up in MXGP this weekend in Loket.

Fortunately, the news coming from the Supercross season are more in line with the team’s expectations, as after his second place at the Pro Hexis Supercross at Châteauneuf les Martigues, Anthony Bourdon has just achieved two wins at the Supercross in Carpi (Italy) and then in Lizac.
