On October 3–5, 2025, Estonia will line up for the 32nd time at the Motocross of Nations, held this year in Indiana, USA. Representing Estonia will be Jörgen-Matthias Talviku, Joosep Pärn, and Harri Kullas.
The team was selected in cooperation with team manager Martin Arumäe, national coach Tanel Leok, and the EMF motocross commission. Estonia has been represented at the Motocross of Nations every year since 1993.
Team Manager Martin Arumäe:
“The selection and circumstances were not easy. We began putting the team together already at the end of July, when Tanel and I started making plans regarding the riders. The cooperation with EMF and the motocross commission went very well.
I also want to sincerely thank our supporters, who continue backing the national team and help lay the foundation for continuity. Thank you for your trust!
The race will not be easy. For Joosep it’s the first time, but I believe that if he keeps a clear head, he is capable of riding very fast and bringing home a good result. He has shown that this year on several European rounds.
As for Harri and Jörgen – I am quite confident. They both have experience in the US, their speed is good, and the results show it. The key is that the bikes hold up and that we avoid crashes. If that happens, we will definitely see good results from them.”
Joosep Pärn (MX2):
“It is a huge honor to represent Estonia at the Motocross of Nations. This has been my dream since I first started riding motorcycles, and to be able to share this experience with Jörgen and Harri is the cherry on top. A big thank you to EMF for the trust and to all the sponsors supporting us in this endeavor! We’ll keep the Estonian flag flying high!”
Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (MXGP):
“We have a strong team this year! Team spirit is crucial at such an event, and I believe we’ve got it. Harri has already been in the US and raced their tracks a lot in recent years, so adapting shouldn’t be a problem for him. For me and Joosep, it’s a bit different, but it’s great to see fresh blood in the team, and I’ll do my best to support him and share the experience I have.
This will be my fourth MXoN, and I have some of my best memories of racing in the US from the Ironman track. I’m very happy to have been chosen for the team and I can’t wait to represent Estonia in blue, black, and white!”
Harri Kullas (MX Open):
“The season started off rough. With a new team and new people, we weren’t ready in the first rounds. But step by step, we improved the bike and my confidence grew as well. We worked hard all season, and by the last rounds the bike felt really good.
We gave our best, and finishing 12th overall in the championship is actually a good result. I scored points in every race I started!
The speed and form are good, and I’m ready for the Motocross of Nations. I’m really looking forward to it – it’s the biggest event of the year!
Jörgen has had a strong season in Europe, and it’s great to see him putting everything together. He’s fast, so on the big bike we are solid. With the small bike we’ll have a newcomer – Joosep at his first MXoN. He’s been progressing steadily in his career and shown flashes of speed this season, so he has earned his spot on the big stage. Mentally it will be tough, but we’ll support him and hope he enjoys it and delivers his best rides at the start of October.”*
Team Coach Tanel Leok:
“This is the current state of Team Estonia, and I believe this is the best selection we could make right now. We must respect the riders and consider which class they feel strongest in. If Harri and Jörgen believe they can perform at their best on the 450, then that’s the path we take. Both are experienced, especially Harri. Forcing them into MX2 when they don’t feel comfortable would not work mentally or performance-wise. Right now, both seem strong.
Jörgen in particular is showing great momentum – if he keeps training and racing like this, he’s approaching the peak years of his career. Harri has always been very hardworking and something of a perfectionist.
Of course, some may see Joosep as the weakest link, but the situation is what it is. From what I know, he is very receptive and willing to learn from the experienced riders. He’s not the type you need to fight with about what works and what doesn’t. This is a huge responsibility for him, but I believe that on a good day Joosep can surprise people. Many already know how fast he can be in training, and he has shown it in races as well.
My final message is this: Not everyone will agree with the decision, and some may even feel upset. But once the decision is made, we must stand behind the team as one. Let’s not forget that this is a team competition, and we all want to see Estonian riders in the future national teams. If riders and fans stand united, we will build an even stronger team for the future.”
