Christian Craig has officially confirmed that he will part ways with Star Racing Yamaha despite having signed a two-year deal with the team. His agreement included a development role, designed to help the teams 250cc talent, but the partnership has come to an end after just one year.
Craig and Star Racing Yamaha enjoyed plenty of success together during their time, most notably celebrating a 250SX Supercross Championship, and the split is said to be on good terms.
Taking to social media, Craig explained his decision:
“Just wanted to give everyone an update on what I’m doing. I have asked and have been granted an early release from my two-year contract with Star Racing Yamaha. I’ve had a lot of great memories riding blue including winning a 250 SX Championship together. Thanks to everyone for the support and will update you on my future soon.”
With Craig now a free agent, attention will quickly turn to where the experienced rider might land next as he looks ahead to the next chapter of his career.
The American is expected to race the World Supercross series but we await official confirmation.
