Race One: It’s brutal conditions for the first race of the year. It looked like Sacha Coenen was going to grab the holeshot but then he went wide and got caught up in the lose stuff. It allowed Janis Reisulis to get into the lead and the Latvian was having a superb ride.

Coenen was coming though the pack and made a move on Zanchi for second when he started to catch Reisulis – he got the gap down to just over four seconds but then Reisulis crashed out of the lead.

Simon Längenfelder had made a move on Zanchi for second before issues dropped him to third again – Zanchi will be happy with second on his first race with the Ducati.

Scott Smulders had a superb ride to come home an impressive fourth with Reisulis rounding out the top five.
