MX1 race results: Italian Championship RD1 – Gifting wins at Mantova

In the first race, Alessandro Lupino got a good start on his Ducati and was leading after a couple of corners to pull away to take a comfortable race win on his new bike.

The MXGP regulars didn’t get good starts, Isak Gifting was dead last but rode really well to come back to sixth – he’ll feel with a good start he has the speed to challenge for a race win. Jan Pancar was also buried but got back to eighth.

Ivo Monticelli was in around ninth on the first lap but got back to fourth passing Cedric Soubeyras who was having a good ride.

Giuseppe Tropepe had a good ride for second ahead of Alvin Ostlund.

In the second moto roles were reversed as Isak Gifting got a top five start and Alessandro Lupino was outside the top ten. It didn’t take Gifting too long to get into second and then he set his sights on Scuteri. Once he caught him he was able to pass and then run away with things at the front.

Lupino was involved in plenty of battles but in the end could only get back to seventh which meant Gifting took the overall win. Lupino and Ducati ended up second overall on their first MX race – not bad. Scuteri rode great to hold onto second ahead of Soubeyras and Ostlund.

Monticelli took a really bad start and could only recover to twelfth.
