The weekend didn’t start to well for team Germany in the ballot as they got drawn the very last gate pick making things tricky for the qualifying day. However, they didn’t allow that to dampen the mood and they still had a solid event.
Germany ended up sixth overall and if they got better starts it could have even better but it was still a solid result.
Max Nagl is now 37 years old but still has serious speed as he won the ADAC MX Masters title yet again this year. It was his 18th time representing Germany at the MXoN – Längenfelder wasn’t even born the first time he contested the event!
The KMP Honda rider says Matterley Basin is likely his final MXoN event but we do believe he will still race in Germany next year so never say never to him lining up and racing the MXoN event.
Nagl posted the following update on social media:
It was a privilege to be chosen to ride on my 18th Motocross of Nations, especially along such great riders and team mates as Ken Roczen and Simon Längenfelder. My weekend was difficult and I could not give my all as I wanted, I tried to push as long as it was possible.
I didn’t had good starts and dug deep to catch up, in the first moto I had a DNF due to a technical problem – my rear wheel blocked – in the second moto I had to throw away my goggles, which forced me to slow down. Despite all this I was enjoying riding on the track of Matterley Basin and finishing 6th overall with team Germany.
So this year is finished, most probably this was my last MxoN appearance as a rider. In the future the best German riders have my support whoever that may be. As one of the oldest active mx rider in Germany I’m thankful for all the support in my career so far. Grateful for my team, my sponsors, friends, family and especially for the support of the fans out there!
