t’s been a rollercoaster 2025 season for young Kiwi talent, Levi Townley. The promising EMX125 rookie entered the year on a high after securing a coveted ride with one of the top teams in the series.

Early in the season, Townley showed plenty of potential, demonstrating strong pace as he adjusted to life in the European championship.

However, his campaign took a turn for the worse at the Arco di Trento round, where he suffered a broken leg. After spending months on the sidelines, the MJC Yamaha rider had only just returned to riding and was eyeing a potential comeback at the EMX125 finale in Lommel. Unfortunately, disaster struck again—Townley has now broken the same leg for a second time.

“Levi Townley of the MJC Yamaha team suffered a major setback on Thursday. Earlier this year, Townley impressed in the 125cc class, winning the Dutch Masters in Harfsen. However, just a week later, he broke his lower leg during the EMX125 race in Arco di Trento.

His recovery took about three months, causing him to miss a large part of the season. This week, he got back on the bike for the first time—but unfortunately, disaster struck again. Townley broke the same leg and has already undergone surgery in Belgium.

Another long rehabilitation period awaits Townley. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at the starting gate in top form next year.”*

The injury is a bitter blow for Townley, who had been eager to salvage some race time before the end of the season. Now, his focus will turn to rehabilitation with the goal of returning fully fit for the 2026 campaign.
