Lars Lindstrom: “A little disappointed”

Lars Lindstrom admitted they were slightly disappointed Hunter Lawrence didn’t get the win in Daytona because the championship leader was riding so well!

Lars told Lewis Phillips: “Yeah, a little bit disappointed for something that we shouldn’t be disappointed about. Only because he’s been so strong. He qualified – he won both sessions today. He won his heat race. I think that he probably didn’t have the best lines in the sand, mainly, I thought, or he couldn’t get a flow in the sand, I guess, compared to Eli there when Eli came by. And then got that gap in kind of midway through the race, a little bit before midway but then he got that flow, got that late moto surge that he gets. And man, he finished so strong. You know, his fastest lap was on lap 17, last lap, 17.8. So real close, and then he was pretty fired up afterwards. You know, he really thought he had a chance to win, and I think we did too.

“So yeah, a little disappointed, but realistically, we got second, almost beat the guy that’s won here eight times. Legend, you know, Eli Tomac, so I don’t think we’re too disappointed. We’re just, we want to win this championship, so every point counts. And that’s why I think everybody wanted a little bit more. He said on the podium that he got a flow once he figured out what the bike was doing or how it was reacting.

Lars also spoke on the red light debacle and the not very well know leader light situation admitting, “Shame on me for not knowing that.”
