Jorge Prado was IN for the Ironman MXoN according to the Spanish press release but due to “last minute due to contractual obligations with his current team,” he was “forced to withdraw.”
Rumours had Jorge potentially on a KTM for the MXoN and motivated to show his real level to America, back on a back he was comfortable on. This, of course, could have looked rather bad for Kawasaki if he had performed well!
The Spanish team will now have EMX250 rider Garcia on the team in the Open category joining Farres in MX2 and Fernandez in MXGP with the Spanish team emphasising it was, “Jorge’s ’s last-minute withdrawal. Of course, he was part of the team, but in the end he won’t be on the start line.“
Sad for all the fans hoping to see the four time world champ in action and riding at his potential again, but it looks like Prado was stuck between a rock and a hard place with Kawasaki, many still expect Jorge to be KTM in 2026 and that SMX will be his last showing on Kawasaki.
