In his latest video, Jorge Prado has admitted it has never been easy for him to come through the pack due to always holeshotting!
The Spaniard had this to say on San Diego “I didn’t get the holeshot shot. I’m used to holeshot all my life and being stuck in the middle of the pack has always been my weakness, even in motocross. Fighting my way through traffic has never come easy. That night, I was paying more attention to what was coming from behind than to my own race, my own rhythm or my own lap times. I was completely out of the race.”
But Jorge said he put that experience to good use at A2: “Of course, I missed the start. I got cut off right of the start, so I was again in the middle of the pack. But I actually said to myself, come on, we need to take that experience from last weekend and make it work this time. I need to push myself even if I feel uncomfortable to get through these guys and to actually go to the front, move forward. I lost some positions actually in lap one, but I started pushing myself and getting again a step by step to the front. I was probably around 13, 14 and I got back to seven. I think it was a very good ride. Intensity was there the whole time. I make moves. I felt really good with the bike.”
Overall, Prado still can’t believe he is this fast this soon after only a couple of Supercross races in the previous two seasons:
“So, first three rounds are done. It was a great start of the season here in California. Wouldn’t expect to be on the podium at A1.We got a lot of experience gained in the next two rounds. The riding is very good. I never expected to be in this position, so super happy about it.”
