Jeremy Martin was the feel good story of the weekend as, in his last ever race, he had a dream day with two holeshots and winning the final moto of his career to go 3-1 at Millville, the track he was born and grew up on. It doesn’t get much better than that!
A true circle of life at the place he learned to ride at age four and where he ended his career that included two 250 outdoor titles and a 450 supercross podium, with one more moto win in front of all his home fans who could not stop cheering for their hero one last time.
Martin, who was almost in tears on the gate of moto two, said: “It was a fairytale kind of ending to my career. Obviously, we all know I was doing the VIP gig. I lined up at Pala and Hangtown, and then I was practicing starts. I was a yard sale. I literally tried these really tall starting blocks, I hit the middle of where they dropped the gate. I was just all over the place. I was just not dialled in and took a break, got everything better. What a dream day, really, I mean, it’s just insane, and it’s an honour to be able to battle with these guys, to see the pace of the next generation. I was good back in my day, but these guys are really good now.
“To be honest, I was terrible the first two rounds. If I would have gone 5-5 today, that would have been a win for me. Obviously, I got a little bit of a gift. Deegan got off to a not as good of a start as me in moto 2, and then Jo lost his rear brake, and then he went off the track like a wildcat, and so I got gifted there, and I just ran with it, and I was like, man, I’m definitely kind of tired, but these are the last laps of my professional career, and I said, ‘you got that dog in you. Let’s go!’

“I definitely put a lot of heart into it. To keep the number one at bay, it’s not easy, right? Like I said, that next generation speed is insane. I’ve had another proper dig like that at Millville here and I think of 2020 COVID year with Dylan. We went down to the last lap of his moto 2 or whatever. We had an early brawl, but yeah, I was just grateful.
“I was trying to hide the tears, man. I went up for the grand marshal deal and I broke down on the podium. I saw my brother and my family at different times felt today and I was like, man, you’ve got to get your sh*t together, these are the last two motos of your career. I was able to do that and as Deegan says, lock in. I locked in, yeah, I got her done.”
All-in one last time, Martin rewound the clock with his grit, speed and determination to win, he delivered in a way even he could not have imagined. No-one will ever forget Millville 2025, this was everything that is great about this sport.
