We caught up with Hunter Lawrence to discuss his brilliant 2025 season, hopes for 2026 and not having Jett with him on the track.
Hunter said: “I mean, it’s a bummer that he’s not racing, like that side of things. I would rather him be up there with us and racing, but it is what it is.That’s the cruelty of our sport. It really puts emphasis on how gnarly a sport we have. You know, it wasn’t a training incident or I wouldn’t call it a training incident, it was just a riding, you know, freak accident. So yeah, a bit of a bummer to the end of the year for us. But yeah, looking forward to go racing. I’m excited to go racing.
“We still learn from each other day to day, whether it’s on the bike, off the bike, so it’s good. But it’s yeah, I miss my training partner, so I hope he can be back as soon as he can.”
And Hunter believes he can be in the mix in Supercross after a brilliant second half of the 2025 sesson: “I felt like in Supercross I was just about to really start getting into my stride and then I had that crash at Tampa, unfortunately. So yeah, that kind of sucked, man.
“Honestly, I felt like I was really about to get going and we were able to come back in outdoors and build. Yeah, SMX and nations… I think I’m riding really well and I hope to be able to carry that into the racing, honestly. The first few rounds I’ve struggled at in the past, so I just want to be better this year and in the beginning of it. If I can be better than last year, that’s still progress. Be on the box, amazing. A win, amazing. Just take it race by race.”
