Now in his fifth year with the Chambers KTM team, Glenn McCormick is quietly going about his business in 2025 and putting together his strongest start to a British Championship campaign yet. The Northern Irish rider has had to deal with injury setbacks early in the season, but he’s still managed to show solid pace and consistency, and sits well placed in the standings heading into the next round. We caught up with Glenn to reflect on a busy off-season, life away from the bike, his views on racing at home, and what the future might hold—including the possibility of a wildcard GP appearance.

GateDrop: Glenn, let’s go back to the 2024 season, how would you reflect on your season? I feel like there were up and downs. The good thing was that you ended your season on a high…

McCormick: 2024 for me personally I had bigger things going on in my life than bikes and fortunately for me bikes was a good get away. After 2024 I learnt a lot and it has made me better.

GateDrop: Coming into the 2025 season, what was your winter like? Did you go abroad anywhere or did you mainly stay at home?

McCormick: My winter was pretty straight forward. I was riding at home when the weather was good and riding a lot at Desertmartin. Billy and Richard (McKeown) kept the track rough and that was basically how it went. I did manage to get ten days in Spain just before the start of the season.

GateDrop: The Chambers KTM team have really stepped things up in 2025 and it’s nice to see them in the GP paddock too. How’s everything been going with the team?

McCormick: The Chambers KTM team has been awesome. This is my fifth year with the team and with the addition of Adam (Sterry) coming in. it has definitely helped to elevate the team and bring in some good support and in turn has also made me a better rider.

GateDrop: Has the bike improved since last year or is it relatively the same?

McCormick: My bike is relatively the same as last year, my bike isn’t far off being stock, really. Davy Dickson has done some small but very effective bits of work over the past two years and it shows this weekend with two good starts on a tough uphill start against some very competitive 250’s

GateDrop: I believe you are more full time Motocross rider this year so the full focus is on the racing, that must really help?

McCormick: Well, I’m not full time but I am able to put in some good time and effort towards my racing. I now have a farm to look after and cows aren’t like a bike where you can put it in the shed and forget about it.

GateDrop: We are two rounds into the British Championship and you finished 7-8 at Hawkstone following up with 6-13 at Canada Heights. How would you reflect on both rounds? You picked up an injury in between each which isn’t ideal – you must be looking forward to more bike time ahead of the next round…

McCormick: This is my best start to a season I’ve ever had even with an injury. Round one, I came in a bit short with early intensity. I then got hurt after and had two days week before round two. To come out with the results I had and to be sitting eighth in the championship, I’m quite happy.

GateDrop: You did the opening round of the Ulster Championship, did you enjoy racing at home again? What do you think needs to happen at home to attract all the best riders at home to turn up?

McCormick: I love racing at home. It is easy to get caught up and say this, that and the other like everyone else but racing at home has gotten me to where I am at with my racing and has done me well over the years. For me not racing at home is mainly because of the politics and arguing it brings with it, I think if people could get on better and work together to make it a better environment you might see more people here racing. I’ve said it before and I think it wasn’t that long ago when Shaun Simpson would have raced here on a Saturday then travelled all night to race somewhere else and that done him no harm!

GateDrop: Chambers KTM are obviously regularly in the MXGP paddock, is there any chance we see you racing Matterley Basin in the MXGP class and maybe any other GP’s – is EMX open at Lommel an option too?

McCormick: The British is my main goal and that’s what I’m focusing on for now. It will just depend on how things are going but I would like to do something.

GateDrop: The Irish commission had announced that they weren’t going to send a team to the MXoN earlier this year – without even consulting the riders! What was going through your mind when you read that statement? Hopefully they send a team!

McCormick: Again the politics that come along with this and many outside people stirring the pot, it’s not something I wish to comment on much. The lies I’ve been told and how I’ve been treated in past years – I’m just going to focus on myself.
