Young British talent Charlie Richmond is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, making a significant step in his motocross career. After a solid debut year racing the 125cc on KTM machinery in 2024, Richmond has switched to Yamaha for the new season. The switch appears to be paying off already, as he showcased his potential by finishing an impressive second overall in the 125cc class at the prestigious Hawkstone International event, only behind fellow British rider Jamie Keith.
Looking ahead, Richmond has decided to elevate his ambitions by competing in selected rounds of the EMX125 championship alongside his domestic campaign in the British Championship. His focus will be on competing at four to five rounds, including high-profile events in France, Lommel, Matterley Basin, Germany, and potentially Switzerland.
“My plans for 2025 are to race four or five rounds of the series including the two French rounds, Lommel, Matterley Basin, Germany and possibly Switzerland. Aside from that I’m also racing the British championship,” Richmond told GateDrop.com. “I’m really enjoying the Yamaha. I had a really good pre-season race at Hawkstone International, finishing second overall in the 125cc class. I’m feeling confident ahead of my debut in the EMX125 class.”

Richmond’s preparation for the season has been thorough, spending his offseason training on the hardpack tracks of Spain. This experience has not only boosted his confidence but also solidified his readiness for the demanding challenges of the EMX125 series – this weekend will be his debut in the very competitive class.
“I have had a good off season training on the hard pack in Spain, so I’m feeling comfortable coming into this round. I feel confident, but of course the main goal is to qualify and then score points in both races. Then I want to improve from there – a top fifteen would be nice, but we will see how it goes,” he shared.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Richmond is quick to acknowledge the support system that has played a crucial role in his development.
“I would like to thank everyone who is behind me as follows: @sbriggscommercial @briggsbradley @line.guidance @supermx @bellpowersportsuk @we.are.ride @airportautoscommercials @rfx_racing @envymx_uk @moto33racesuspension @rockoilnews @suter_racing @motoverde @madison_powersports @trak_industries @mobiusbracesuk @goggle.tek @middlesexmx @rynopower_europe @justinmorrismxtraining.”
With his sights set on gaining experience and making his mark in the EMX125 championship, Richmond is determined to build on the promising start to his season and establish himself as a formidable competitor on both the British and European stages in the future.
