Martin Barr didn’t have the best of weekend racing the Vets Motocross des Nations at Foxhill. The experienced Irish rider has revealed that he requires surgery.
The extent of the injury is a small facture at the bottom of his tibia (lower leg). He hasn’t yet pulled out of the Motocross des Nations – in what would be his 19th appearance if he makes it to Ironman.
He is sounding pretty positive so hopefully he can get back on a bike soon and be fine to race the biggest event of the year in what would be his final race as a professional.
The injury does rule him out of action for the British Championship double heading taking place at Duns in Scotland this weekend.
Barr posted the following update on social media:
Unfortunately last weeks VMXDN didn’t go to plan but that’s the joys of Motocross sometimes. A small fracture at the bottom of my tibia was the result but I’m in for a small op on Monday all being well then a few days recovery to see where I’m at! I’ve a couple of goals set in place before the season is out.
Unfortunately I’ll have to missed this weekends British championship at Duns. Big thanks to my team for all there support and to everyone who has reached out, it means a lot
