Injury update: Joel Rizzi sidelined after Duns crash

Coming into the 2025 season, Joel Rizzi made headlines when he signed with the Dirt Store Triumph team, becoming the first rider to line up on the all-new Triumph 450cc in the UK. It was an exciting step for the young Brit, but his debut season hasn’t gone according to plan.

Despite showing flashes of promise, Rizzi and Triumph would have wanted better results and there’s no doubt he is capable of better after challenging for the MX2 title last year. However, hopefully there’s a good base with the bike for the future.

Unfortunately, his season has now been cut short after a crash at the latest round of the British Championship at Duns in Scotland.

Rizzi suffered a broken wrist in two places, ruling him out for the remainder of the season with only one round left on the calendar.

Rizzi shared an honest update with fans on social media:

“This year has tested me and to top it off broke my wrist in 2 places in the start crash, the breaks are clean so few weeks recovery and rest. Coming off the year I had last year to this year feels like I’ve taken 10 steps backwards and not everything went to plan but I won’t bore you with excuses this year just wasn’t good enough”.

“It’s a shame because this weekend felt like we took a big step in the right direction with the bike, but results didn’t show due to some rear brake issues I’ve been having. It’s a shame how the weekend ended but will take the positives and focus on what’s ahead. Big thanks to my team & sponsors that make it all possible.”

It has been a tough campaign for Rizzi, but he remains determined to bounce back stronger. With his season now over, his focus will be on healing up and securing a strong ride for 2026. Hopefully we can see the best of him next year and he can run right at the front again.
