Dutch motocross rider Ivano van Erp has been seriously injured following a heavy crash during a Dutch National event which took place at Oss. The incident led to major surgery and a long recovery period.
We would like to send our best to Ivano and those close to him during this time – the good news is he is now stable.
The team posted the following update on social media:
Ivano van Erp from the DCN-Vos Oss-KTM team crashed during the second moto of the Dutch MX Nationals in Oss on Sunday and was seriously injured.
After a strong second place in the first moto, van Erp suffered a torn aorta near the heart in the crash, as well as a broken collarbone, shoulder blade, and sternum.
At the last moment, it was decided not to transport Ivano by trauma helicopter because it would take too long. Instead, he was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he underwent surgery. Late last night, we received the news that the operation went well and that Ivano is stable.
The van Erp family and the entire team would like to thank all emergency responders, sponsors, and supporters for their efforts, whatever the recovery may bring. What is certain is that any possible return to the bike will take a very long time.
