Hunter Lawrence brought his 2025 SMX, Outdoors and MXoN speed to the party in 2026 Supercross and after so many seconds this season the Aussie finally delivered a win to extend his championship lead to four points.
And this win was as straight up as it gets with all four title contenders nose to tail. Hunter had to pass Webb and Roczen to get the lead and then deal with Eli Tomac late in the race, he dealt with all that the pressure from legends of the sport, stayed mentally strong and came out on top
To win your first 450 Supercross race in that fashion is impressive and there can be no more doubters on Hunter Lawrence eligibility to be a title contender in 450 Supercross. The Aussie is doing everything right so far and it is impressive to watch.

Finally getting the win
It just broke through tonight. I think it’s more of what I’ve been doing. I really feel like my riding in Seattle could have led me to a similar result. I just feel like the biggest key thing was get, you know, wheelspin on the gate. Tonight I go around the first turn in that top five, and like Eli was saying earlier, it’s really important for the start, honestly, with how good the class is. Yeah, it’s tough to have a really bad start, and then expect to come through and battle for a win.
The bike’s been, we’ve been working on the bike and stuff and improving it. I’ve been getting better and just racing myself in, I guess. Honestly, it’s tough to replicate racing, and I definitely think my first half of the race has gotten better, for sure. See, it just kind of gets better throughout the racing. The more I gel with the bike, the more you just kind of get more familiarized with it, I think.
On his last lap thoughts
One more lap, just hit my marks, don’t do anything stupid. It’s… I need to get across the finish line. That’s honestly it.
On the intense battle with Roczen, Webb and Tomac
I mean, it’s like chess out there, you know, like you try and he would make a little mistake and I’d try and get there, but then he’d have the insight for the next corner, and it was really cool. I think that racing to watch and to be a part of it is really cool. The battle goes on for multiple laps, and it was really cool, really cool.
Don’t mess up your playing defense, but you’re (also) playing offense. Like, it’s cool. I really enjoy that because it is such a tricky spot to be in, but, man, it feels good when you pull it off! You know, I think that’s one of those, very high stage pressure moments, which, like, I don’t know, I just love that, you know? It’s so cool and so fun!
