British youngster Hayden Statt is gearing up for his EMX125 debut in what promises to be an exciting rookie season. Having made the decision to step up from the 85cc class, Statt will compete as a privateer on a Yamaha, determined to make an impact in the highly competitive European championship. He is only 14 years old – but turns 15 next month so is still young.
Statt spent the 2024 season racing his final year on the 85cc, gaining valuable experience and sharpening his skills against tough competition. His performances helped lay the foundation for his move to the 125cc class, giving him confidence as he takes on this new challenge.
Reflecting on his preparation, Statt identified an early challenge after competing at Hawkstone International.
“After Hawkstone, I realised that the bike wasn’t capable of keeping up, so we’ve had a new engine done,” he told GateDrop.com. “I feel a lot more confident on the new bike as I get to grips with it.”
Statt has been fully committed to his off-season training, ensuring he is physically and mentally prepared for the step up.
“The off-season’s been going great so far, just been putting the work in the gym, on the bicycle, and putting the effort in on the motocross bike,” he said.

With his rookie campaign fast approaching, Statt has set realistic yet ambitious goals for the season ahead.
“I’m really looking forward to the 2025 season and obviously I’m doing the EMX125 class. It’s my rookie year, so my goal is to just qualify, but I’m hoping to be top twenty.”
Stepping into the EMX125 series as a privateer is no easy task, but Statt’s determination and work ethic suggest he is more than ready to take on the challenge. With a fresh setup and a strong mindset, the young Brit will be aiming to turn heads as he embarks on this new chapter in his motocross journey.
