Ever wondered how physically demanding MXGP is? Well, former AMA and MXGP rider, Sean Hamblin, has revealed on Vital MX the heart rate and calorie burning levels a GP moto puts on the body.
Hamblin said he was at a high of 202 then dropping to 180-185 for the rest of the moto, which was 35 plus two laps then (now 30 but with a Saturday 20 minute qualifying race).
In terms of calories that worked out at over 600 per moto and 2000 a day with practice and qualifying included!
It underlines just what a tough all round sport motocross is in terms of skill, plus the mental and physical requirements of a two day GP event.
