Geerts on another tough weekend

Jago Geerts is going through a tough time. In the qualifying race on Saturday, the Belgian got stuck in a disappointing 25th place. So a bad starting position. And Jago had to pay for it. In the first moto he was 17th in the first turn. Geerts moved up two places, but then he crashed and dropped back to P23. He finally secured two points for the championship (P19). Murphy’s law – if something can go wrong, it will – continued to haunt him. Jago was also held up at the start of the second moto by a crash of several other riders. Geerts moved up from P21 to P14, but then his bike went into neutral during a jump, causing him to crash hard and retire from the race.

Geerts: “It was a very difficult weekend. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t find the right feeling. In the first moto I didn’t get in the right rhythm and made a small crash. The second moto was a lot better. I was held up at the start by a crash in front of me, but then I was able to move up rather quickly. Unfortunately, a big crash ended my race. Luckily I got away without damage. So I will have to take confidence from that solid comeback in the second moto.”
