For the final three rounds of the British Championship there will be a famous wildcard entry.
Former MX2 GP podium visitor, Davy Pootjes who has stepped back from racing the past few years mostly due to injuries, will be back to do some racing.
The Dutch rider will race for the SAS TPC KTM team and will contest the MX2 class adding to an already stacked class full of international talent.
Drew Smith (Team Owner) and Brett Smith (Assistant Team Manager) are super pumped to bring a big name in the sport to race the British Championship. Pootjes will be participating in the next three rounds of the series at Duns and Lyng with his iconic number 46.
The previous factory KTM rider will bring an abundance of race craft and style battling with the best in Britain. Whilst he’s focusing on his training company, he was super excited to remount a motorcycle. Pootjes has been training last minute to do the best he can whilst having some fun. The young Dutchman at only 27 years old will be even stronger in the sand at Lyng for the final round of the series.
Pootjes will be accompanied by his previous mechanic at JWR Honda, Jack Fleming which carries on a previous friendship from the MXGP paddock.
“I am really excited to come back and race after two years. It is going to be a tough few weeks as I haven’t been training or riding for two years but all I want is just to have fun. I am looking forward to seeing my old friends again at the track and the UK is one of my favourite countries to go. Lets have some fun at the British Championship”, Pootjes told GateDrop.com.
