The Ulster Motocross Championship is set for a major boost as it heads to Mountain Quarter on Saturday the 16th of August with a host of top British talent confirmed to contest the event.
As previously reported, rumours suggested that a number of high-profile riders from across the water would be making the trip to Northern Ireland — and now, those rumours have been confirmed.
Leading the British contingent is Josh Gilbert, who is competing in selected MXGP World Championship rounds this year with the Lexa Honda team. Gilbert, who also has experience racing AMA Pro Motocross in the United States, brings serious international pedigree and will be the big favourite.
Also confirmed is Taylor Hammal, who has impressed in MX1 this year after switching to the DRT Kawasaki setup and is now racing the 450cc full time.
Adding more depth to the entry list is the Phoenix Tools Fantic Racing team, with both Carlton Husband and his talented young teammate Josh Vail confirmed. Husband brings plenty of experience, while Vail is enjoying his first season racing the 250cc and showing plenty of promise. Drew Piggford will also be joining his team mates at the event.
British rider Chris Mills is also heading over, further bolstering what is already shaping up to be one of the most stacked Ulster Championship line-ups in recent memory.
Of course, local favourites will be keen to defend home turf. Martin Barr, Glenn McCormick, and Stuart Edmonds have all confirmed their participation and will be eager to mix it with the British Championship regulars on familiar ground. Jason Meara will also be behind the line if he recovers from his ongoing issues in time for the event.
