Young Dutch talent, Scott Smulders will be heading to America next month to race the Mini O’s event which is a big event for youth racing in the USA. The Mini O’s event will take place between November the 23rd to the 30th.
Smulders has confirmed he will contest in the 250cc pro sport Supercross and Motocross classes but will race on KTM machinery – he’ll only have one day on the bike before racing the event. After spending the season on a Honda it’ll be a change for Smulders. It’s a very difficult style of racing with sprint races but it’ll be great for him to experience racing in America.
We caught up with Smulders to get his thoughts…
“This was something very unexpected”, Smulders told GateDrop.com. “I was just driving home with my Dad after a weekend of training in France when one of my friends called me and asked if I was interested in going there and from there on it went pretty fast”.
“I fixed my license and the entry for the race and my friend booked the flights, it is an expensive trip to pay myself but I wasn’t able to say no. So we fly on the 21st of November to Orlando and will race there for one week. On the 1st of December we come back and then my new contract starts with the new team”, Smulders added.
“I really don’t know what to expect in America, I have to ride a 2025 KTM 250cc there so I think I will have one day on it before we go and race. I don’t know anything how the schedule and everything goes, I just let it come to me. I will enjoy the trip, give it my all before we come back and get ready for next years ADAC series and EMX250 championship”, concluded Smulders.
Smulders plans for the 2025 season will be confirmed in due course but it’s good news we’ll see him race the ADAC Youngsters Cup and EMX250 series.
A trip to the US isn’t cheap so if anyone out there wants to support the young Dutch rider, get in touch with him via his Instagram.
