Confirmed: Kelton Gwyther steps away from professional racing

After a big crash which has left Kelton Gwyther without feeling in his left arm, he has announced he has made the decision to step away from racing at a professional level.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Gwyther all the best for his future and we hope he makes a full recovery.

Gwyther provided the following update on social media:

First things first, I want to thank my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for saving me from this crash. Now I’d like to share that I’ve decided to step away from professional racing. As many of you know, my recent crash was a big one. At this moment, I still have no feeling in my left arm from shoulder to wrist, though I have got some movement in my elbow but still not good. For the first week, my arm was paralysed, and that really put things into perspective. It’s crazy how much you take the little things for granted.

I still hope to ride again in the future, but just for fun, no pressure, no goals, just the love of riding. I will keep you guys updated with my progress.

Looking back, I can honestly say I’ve had a really interesting career in motocross. From starting out as a complete novice at 14, to turning my whole life around, moving to the Netherlands, and racing in almost every class there is: EMX250, EMX2T, EMXOpen, and last year, MX2. Scoring MX2 World Championship points was something I never imagined possible back when I was just a kid dreaming about it.

I want to thank everyone who’s supported me over the years, especially my dad. I couldn’t have done any of this without him, and I’ll always love him for giving me the chance to live out my dreams. I’m also deeply grateful to everyone who’s helped me along the way, this year, in the past, and those who will continue to support me in the future. Thank you so much.
