Jeffrey Herlings has been ruled out of the first MXGP World Championship event of the year taking place in Argentina but it has been confirmed that he’ll race the Dutch Masters of Motocross as he chases his tenth Dutch title.

The organisers are optimistic that Herlings will return for the first round of the series taking place on the 30th of Match. We’ll have to wait and see if it’ll be his first race back or if he can make it back to round two or three of MXGP which takes place before the Dutch opener.

Herlings provided the following update in a recent KTM press release:

“We’re looking good. I can do everything aside from ride the bike. I can cycle, swim, cross train – and it should only be a few weeks until we are back to the normal plan. 2024 wasn’t a great season but it was decent; we’d made a lot of races, came close to the MXGP championship, won a few GPs and had something like 15 podiums at the end. I wanted to be strong coming into this year so having this setback was not good but what I can hope for now is a successful second part of the championship. It was a weird injury because there was not much pain after surgery but it takes time to recover. I want to ride as soon as possible and join the rest of my Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team… but we just need to wait a little longer. I really want to race again.”

The following press release confirms the news he’s in the Dutch series again in 2025:

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team will defend his Dutch Masters of Motocross title this year. Herlings already has nine Dutch Masters titles to his name and is aiming for his tenth in 2025.

This week, unfortunate news emerged that Herlings will miss the start of the MXGP World Championship. He is recovering from a torn ACL, but his rehabilitation is nearing its end. This is great news for the Dutch Masters of Motocross, as the first round of the championship on March 30 in Harfsen is within reach for Herlings.

The rider from Oploo will once again face strong competition from Frenchman Romain Febvre and Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen. Both are factory riders and have won Grand Prix races in the past. Febvre is also a former MXGP World Champion, and both have previously claimed Dutch national titles. In short, an exciting battle awaits!

The 2025 Dutch Masters of Motocross calendar consists of three rounds:

March 30 – Harfsen
April 26 – Oldebroek
May 18 – Markelo
