Cairoli on getting burnt for the first time by his bike!

The first moto at Millville didn’t go to plan for Antonio Cairoli as he got his butt burnt by the pipe on his Ducati after a bit of a collision with Tondel going into turn two left Cairoli stuck under his machine.

Once he got up, thanks to Marshal Weltin lifting his bike off him, Cairoli then stopped at the side of the track with burnt holes in his gear and on his skin, before getting back in the race way behind everyone else and still made his way to 23rd and almost into the points!

Race two went better with Cairoli braving the pain and taking tenth right in the wheeltracks of Eli Tomac the entire moto – Cairoli keeps finding ways to add to his legacy at nearly 40 years old!

Tony said while speaking to Kellen Brauer at Swapmoto: “I collided with another rider and crashed and the bike rolled on me and the pipe was on my butt burning like hell! I have never experienced a burn before in my career, there is always a first time for everything!”

Marshall Weltin, a former GP rider who, has so much respect for Cairoli, he stopped his bike and got the bike off the 9 time world champion! “I came around in that second turn, I saw Tony down, I glanced and saw pipe on his skin, I thought oh shoot that’s not good…I dropped my bike and lifted the bike off him so he was good, he is my all-time favourite rider, it was cool to be able to help him.”
