Antonio Cairoli, after a top ten in Matterley Basin Antonio Cairoli says he would like another top ten at RedBud, but riding a pretty stock Ducati with A kit suspension and US style tracks Cairoli knows it will not be easy, especially as a retired racer with the US intensity in the early laps.
Cairoli said speaking on Pulp MX: “I think I will be very happy if I’m top 10, of course, because of many reasons. Which, I mean, of course, the bike and also the American tracks, to be honest, are very, very different than the European tracks. I mean, Matterley was a very hard-packed track this year and a lot of ruts. And yeah, I can ride quite technical on the track so I can survive quite good.
“But of course, coming here, the rhythm is different. The tracks are very fast and it’s wide open from the first moment. So also the condition is really important, especially the first laps, if you can hang on the first laps. After, I think I can survive quite good, but if the first laps are too different, then it’s a problem!
“Yeah, I mean, if you’re riding every week, you are used to it (the intensity). But when you are not riding for so long, you remember how to ride. But to put it immediately on track when the gate drops, the heart rate, you know, it goes to the moon immediately.”
