Bernardo Tibúrcio claimed his first European podium in Round 2 of the Spanish Motocross Championship, held this weekend (March 14–15) at the Malpartida de Cáceres circuit. The Yamaha 115 M78 rider delivered two third-place finishes in the motos, securing third overall in the round. Salvador Perez, from the Yamaha Monster Energy Geração team, wrapped up the weekend seventh overall.
Saturday (14) demanded resilience and was all about bouncing back for the Brazilian duo. Despite a few crashes, both riders regrouped and delivered solid results in Moto 1: Bê Tibúrcio crossed the line in third place, while Salvi Perez fought his way through the field to finish P8.
Sunday (15) brought more strong performances from Tibúrcio. The Brazilian pushed hard, battling bar-to-bar with his rivals, and secured another third-place finish. With that, he clinched third overall in the round and stepped onto a European podium for the first time in his career.
“We had MX2 today and it was really good. I didn’t get the best start, but I found my rhythm, made overtakes and kept pushing. The opening laps are always intense, but it was a strong race and great preparation for the European Championship next weekend. I got third place and made it onto the podium — really cool, really happy. Now it’s time to fine-tune everything for next week and be ready for the European opener”, said Tibúrcio after the race.
Perez finished MX2 in seventh place, which secured him seventh overall for the weekend. “I didn’t get a good start today, but I managed to fight my way up to sixth and I’m working to improve. Then in the Super Sprint I started third and finished fifth, so I’m happy with that. See you next week at the European Championship”, he added.
The next round of the Spanish Motocross Championship for the Brazilian duo is scheduled for April 26 at the Lugo circuit. Before that, Tibúrcio and Perez will line up for their debut in the European Motocross Championship on March 22.
