Anstie on tough Star debut at Southwick

“I did think halfway around the first lap in the first moto, what am I doing out here?!” Max Anstie didn’t have the easiest welcome back to motocross!

He lost his best time in qualifying due to a sound issue, had to DNF race one after a crash, saying, “I got smashed into the side of.” That unfortunately damaged the bike terminally and then he had to start from 40th gate pick to work his way up into ninth place in moto two!

A dramatic return to racing for Max, but as ever Max was happy chat about his day and the move to Star Yamaha with Lewis Phillips.

Anstie also gave his view on social media: “Well the outdoor MX rust was real 🤦‍♂️ but that’s to be expected and the reason I’m doing this. Quali was somewhat ok then I got docked my fast lap which took me from around 6/7th to way down the order. First moto I messed the start up, just the wrong rpm then someone crashed into me amongst the mid pack carnage and the bike was smashed up. Second moto had last gate pick but made the most of it and managed to get to 9th… to be honest I was struggling 😅 everything felt so new and different. Not comfy… but again that’s why I’m here. To learn and make progress so for next year when I start at rd1 I’ve got all these kinks ironed out. Still it was a dream to walk into the @starracingyamaha truck and see my bike under it! 📈”
