Crowned French Champion this season, April Franzoni will continue her journey with the SR Motoblouz Honda team in 2027. The French rider will once again receive the support of Josse Sallefranque’s structure to compete in both the French Championship and the Women’s World Championship, with additional backing from HRC.
April Franzoni made a big impact this year by securing the French Championship title, notably ending Amandine Verstappen’s long reign. The Belgian, who had won every title since 2019, had remained unbeaten in the French Championship since 2018. Franzoni therefore became the first rider — and the first French rider at that — to take the crown away from her.
This contract extension allows her to continue her promising momentum with SR Motoblouz Honda in 2027. Josse Sallefranque’s French team will continue to support her on both fronts, with the French Championship and Women’s World Championship on the programme.
For this new international campaign, April Franzoni will also benefit from increased support from Honda. HRC will indeed increase the assistance it provides to the French team, which is also preparing for an ambitious 2027 season with the announced arrival of Calvin Vlaanderen in MXGP. The Dutchman is expected to team up with Jago Geerts within the structure.
A first World Championship podium
On the world stage, April Franzoni enjoyed an encouraging 2026 season despite an early end to her campaign. The French rider secured the first podium of her career in the Women’s Motocross World Championship at the opening round held in France — at Lacapelle Marival — confirming her progress against the leading riders in the class.
Her season was nevertheless cut short before the final round. April injured her shoulder during the penultimate round, held in the Netherlands, and was therefore unable to compete in the finale in Australia. Despite this, she finished the WMX World Championship in 11th place this year.
In 2027, the Women’s World Championship calendar will move in the right direction, with six rounds scheduled compared to five this season. The additional round will therefore provide April Franzoni — and the other riders — with more opportunities to continue their progress on the international stage.
With renewed support from SR Motoblouz Honda and increased involvement from HRC, the French rider will have a solid framework in which to continue her development in 2027, with the dual objective of performing at both national and world level.
