Ken Roczen says he still has not made a final decision on if he will race in 2027. The new Supercross champ returned to racing in style with a podium at the first SMX round, taking second place behind Haiden Deegan, but Roczen admitted he is using these SMX races to help him decide if he will commit to racing again next year.
Roczen said while he was at the truck race the week before SMX: “I have thought about walking away the entire last few months since Salt Lake. Having said that, I just need to start racing again. Get back in your groove and before you know it, you know that’s what you wanted.
“I still love riding my dirt bikes. You know, right now the scale is very heavy on one side, you know? I ask people if I should keep racing, I was just telling my wife a couple days ago, I feel like I may just be a little bit too good right now to hang up the boots!
“So, I don’t know. I don’t know what’s right, I don’t know what’s wrong.”
If Roczen does continue, which it seems he is hopefully leaning towards, he would get to ride with the number 1 plate on the Suzuki, which would be a pretty cool sight to see and a nice way to go out if Ken wanted to race one more year.
Let’s see what he decides to do, with truck racing already there a potential next chapter of his life but, as he said, he might be a little too good to retire just yet!
